Nefesh B’Nefesh, a pro-aliyah organization that works in association with the Jewish Agency, has announced it would expand operations to Great Britain this summer, the first time the group has set its sights on bringing non-American Jews to Israel.
"England is the most natural expansion for Nefesh B’Nefesh’s services, especially as result of the high interest that has been expressed from the wonderful Jewish community there," said NBN Co-Founder and Executive Director, Rabbi Yehoshua Fass. "The Israeli government, Chief Rabbi Sir Jonathan Sacks and additional key British figures have given us their blessings and together we hope to achieve great success there as well."
Fass also said he had high hopes that the group commonly referred to simply as "nefesh" would encourage more Jews from the UK to consider emigrating.
Practical support
Since 2002, the Jerusalem-based group has been assisting North American Jews make aliyah by providing financial and logistical support at every step. Although the group is best known for providing monetary grants to individuals and families who move to Israel, their services also include employment counseling and assistance, social services, and practical help with navigating the bureaucracy involved with settling in Israel.
Starting this summer, British Jews will be able to afford themselves of the group's services. With the first flight to Israel set for August 15, two seminars to help people find out more are scheduled in May. One takes place in London on May 7th and another one in Manchester takes place on May 9.
